
Queen Elizabeth National Park
A medley of wonders – Queen Elizabeth National Park located in Western Uganda is the second biggest national Park covering 1,978 square kilometres and It’s the most visited Ugandan park.
The Park was founded in 1952 as Kazinga National Park but two years later renamed to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II of England.
The Park has a diverse ecosystem that includes sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes, and fertile wetlands, making it the ideal habitat for a classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees in Kyambura Gorge, and over 600 species of birds.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is also popular for viewing the tree-climbing lions in the Southern sector of Ishasha. The Park’s surrounding communities create an opportunity for visitors to meet with the local people and learn about their way of life.
Activities include Game drives, bird watching, launch cruise along the Kazinga channel, Chimpanzee trekking in both Kyambura Gorge and Maramagambo forest and other primate treks, guided nature walks, etc.
