04h30: Our driver guide will pick you up from the hotel/residence with packed breakfast and proceed to Volcanoes National Park arriving in time for briefing at the park headquarters before you start your guided walk at 08h00.
Volcanoes National Park is situated in the far northwest of Rwanda, the Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range – home of the endangered mountain gorilla and a rich mosaic of montane ecosystems. The Park was named after the chain of dormant volcanoes making up the Virunga Massif: Karisimbi – the highest at 4,507m, Bisoke with its verdant crater lake, Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura.
This is Rwanda’s premier tourist attraction where you can track a habituated family group of mountain gorillas. The highlight point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their infants.
A gorilla family is led by a Silverback and include several younger males, juvenile females and infants. In addition to providing protection to group members, Silverbacks maintain order and decide all activities within their troop. They schedule feeding trips, resting time, and travel. They also father the majority of infants in the group.
For gorilla trekking, you will be in the rainforest. Warm clothing is required as well as walking/hiking boots, hat, lightweight backpack, raincoat, garden gloves to avoid stinging nettles and gaiters are recommended.
After this amazing experience, you be transferred to freshen up and have lunch at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel or Bishops house subject to availability
